GRCC is preparing to release a new feature, a single sign-on (SSO) portal called “MyGRCC” this October.
Using the MyGRCC portal will grant you access to your GRCC email, Blackboard and Online Center. The password self-service tool will also undergo a makeover. Keep checking your email and RaiderBuzz for the release to be announced.
You may choose to use a name other than your legal name while you’re at GRCC. Your preferred name will be used on Blackboard, class rosters, on your RaiderCard and other records. GRCC is not permitted to use your preferred name on legal documents, including financial aid records, IRP documents and transcripts.
From 3-5 p.m. Aug. 28, staff from Student Records, Student Life and the Title IX office will be available to help with preferred name forms, answer questions, and provide support and resources related to GRCC’s Transgender Equal Opportunity Policy. You’ll find them in the Club Hub, room 20 of the Student Center.
GRCC is holding a “Service Saturday” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 6. It’s the perfect time to wrap up unfinished business before the Winter 2018 semester starts!

Grand Rapids Community College instructional technologist and designer Meegan Willi was selected to participate in the Blackboard MVP program. She will receive access to professional development and share her insights and expertise. Blackboard is the course-management system GRCC faculty uses. To be selected for the MVP program, applicants must prove themselves to be not only leaders in the education technology community but also experts in Blackboard itself and skilled in helping others use it.
The cost of attending college every year gets higher every year. Colleges and universities across the state usually raise tuition prior to the new academic year, often there is also an increase in financial aid to help offset the impact.
… The Grand Rapids Community College Board of Trustees voted to raise tuition 1.8 percent or $2 more per contact hour for the 2017-18 academic year.
GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Fifty years ago, racial tensions in Grand Rapids erupted for three days of civil unrest on the city’s Southeast Side. The riot ran from July 25-27 in 1967.
… (Eli) Lumpkins, who later served as dean of students and alumni services at Grand Rapids Community College, was teaching summer school that July.
Blackboard is the course-management system used by GRCC faculty. To be selected for the Blackboard MVP program, applicants had to prove themselves to be not only leaders in the education technology community, but experts in Blackboard itself and skilled in helping others to use it.
Willi easily fits that criteria, said Garry Brand, interim executive director of the Distance Learning Department and online faculty trainer.
“Meegan is indeed an instructional technology leader in Michigan and beyond,” he said. “In addition to the support she provides to our GRCC faculty, she is very active in the Michigan Blackboard Users Group, the Educational Technology Organization of Michigan and Michigan Colleges Online.
“I am very pleased to see her recognized as a Blackboard MVP.”
Willi sees the Blackboard MVP program as an exciting new way to expand her expertise and add to the ways she can help GRCC faculty — and, ultimately, students.
“The more I can learn from other professionals in the industry, the more I am able to support our faculty in their teaching with Blackboard and other instructional technologies,” she said. “Although I have been involved in different ways before I think my new role as a MVP will keep me more up-to-date with the ever-changing landscape of online learning and technologies.”

Starting Monday, July 12, 2010 GRCC students seeking to transfer funds from credit card to their RaiderCard using Blackboard (bb.grcc.edu) will be presented with a new and improved web interface. The new interface is in compliance with new credit card security regulations and will continue to provide students with the ability to make online deposits, look up transaction history, check Raidercard balance, and report lost and stolen RaiderCards.
