Anne Cheikh was majoring in social work at Grand Valley State University when she realized that she wasn’t happy. After a lot of thinking, she decided to study music at GRCC.
“I knew that GRCC’s music program had an excellent reputation and was cost-effective, so switching was an easy decision,” she said.
For Cheikh, the entire Music Department became a source of strength.
“I am very pleased by how tightly knit the Music Department is,” she said. “My classmates are wonderfully friendly and supportive of one another, which has been a very special experience.”
Cheikh will receive an associate degree in music at commencement, which takes place 7 p.m. April 28 at Ford Fieldhouse, 226 Lyon St. NE. She plans to work in youth ministry and eventually pursue a bachelor’s degree in music therapy.
