Student Jeff Powers will lead a Mathematics Seminar on “The Open Gate of Mathematics: From the Alhambra to Escher” on April 20.
The seminar, from 3-4 p.m. in room 103 of Cook, will look at M.C. Escher’s work and its influence on combinatorics, graph theory, non-Euclidean geometry and crystallography.
The presentation will appeal to those interested in math and the visual arts. Refreshments will be served at 2:45 p.m., and everyone is welcome to attend!
