SICE students Emily Niergarth, Allyson West place 3rd in culinary competition

SICE students Emily Niergarth and Allyson West traveled to Castellana Grotte, Italy, last week to compete in a culinary competition.

Accompanied by team coach Sasha Ahmed, they competed against 10 other teams: seven of them from various regions in Italy, as well as teams from Mexico, Scotland and Portugal. Students had to reinterpret classic Italian recipes, including stuffed rabbit for the savory competition and ricotta-filled crepes for the sweet competition.

GRCC’s team placed third overall. This was the first competition for both Niergarth and West.
