A slice of pie has the number 3.1415925 on it.

Mathematics Seminar looks at pi

Numbers, like people, are all special in their own way, but pi is one the very few numbers that has its own day. Instructor Nancy Forrest will mark March 14 — Pi Day — by leading a Mathematics Seminar on a number that has fascinated (some might say obsessed) people for over 2,000 years.

This talk, which will take place 3-4 p.m. in room 101 of Cook, will have something for everyone, so a high level of mathematical sophistication is not required. Pop and cookies will be served at 2:45 p.m.
