Grand Rapids Community College, faculty agree to new contract

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – The Faculty Association and Grand Rapids Community College have agreed to new three-year contract.

LANSING — Legislation to help expand community college education programs across a larger area is headed to Gov. Rick Snyder’s desk.

… HB 4265 advances to the governor’s office after being approved by the Senate Education Committee and the Senate membership last week. Rep. (Amanda) Price, R-Park Township, was joined by Dr. Steven Ender, president of Grand Rapids Community College, during testimony before the Senate committee on Nov. 29.

Western Michigan finding ‘true football players’ in 90-minute range

KALAMAZOO, MI – Tony Kimbrough and Marty Martens helped Western Michigan University win a Mid-American Conference football championship in 1988.

… “Football around these parts, on the west side, is top-notch. I mean, our conference alone that we play in, the OK Red, there’s a battle every week,” said Kimbrough, a Detroit native who played at Grand Rapids Community College before he transferred to WMU, where he is now in the Athletics Hall of Fame. He’s also coached at GRCC and WMU.

… (Tristan) Rudolph, a junior, collected the No. 7 effort for the Saints in his most recent outing in competing at the Grand Rapids Community College Raider Invitational by finishing 32nd among 92 participants with a time of 28 minutes, 11.2 seconds on the 8,000-meter course on Sept. 23 in Grand Rapids.
